Weddings & Funerals
Weddings
Since you are about to make one of the most important decisions of your life, we say with shared excitement and joy, “Congratulations!” Because it is such an important step, we, as representatives of the believing Christian community, want to help with your preparations and plans. Together we will shape a service that reflects your needs as well as the Christian context in which it takes place. Careful consideration will be given to selections of music, scripture, readings, vows and other components of the worship time together. We want to assist you in this new beginning! Click here to read our Wedding Booklet which will explain much about weddings at St. Matthew’s.
When the death of a loved one occurs:
Contact the church to speak to a pastor about when the pastor and/or church building might be available for a funeral/memorial service for your loved one. The pastor will meet with you to arrange the service that will proclaim Christ’s resurrection and presence. This service may be held at a funeral home or at the church. If it is held at St. Matthew’s, it is helpful to our pastors and volunteer host if there is a representative of the funeral home on site to help host the family and guests attending.
A funeral reception after the service can be arranged in the Upper Commons. Coffee and treats can be provided by the church volunteers. A larger luncheon can be offered if the family provides the food through a local caterer, e.g. Bunzel’s.
A funeral bulletin is printed for the service, in collaboration with you and any family members who wish to be involved. If you desire to have digital photos shown during the visitation, we will receive these from you on a portable drive (flash drive) or create an online folder for you to upload the desired photos.
